Recognition & Accreditation
THE HIGHER EDUCATION & TRAINING AWARDS COUNCIL (HETAC)
HETAC
is a public body established under the Qualifications (Education and
Training) Act, 1999. It is the national awarding body in Ireland for
higher education and training qualifications outside of the university
sector at all levels up to doctoral award. All HETAC awards fit in to
the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) which was launched in
2003. The NFQ was designed to create a single, coherent and more easily
understood qualifications system for all levels of education and
training in Ireland. It also accords with European and international
developments to enhance learner mobility within and between national
systems. In association with DBS, HETAC confers awards to students of
the College at Higher Certificate, Degree and Postgraduate levels.
LIVERPOOL JOHN MOORES UNIVERSITY (LJMU)
In
1989 Dublin Business School formed a partnership with Liverpool
Business School, part of Liverpool John Moores University. The
University can trace its origins back to 1823 and is one of the largest
Universities in the U.K.. The relationship developed very positively
over the years and in 1995 DBS was awarded accredited status by
Liverpool John Moores University. As an accredited institution, the
College can design and develop its own degree programmes. In recent
years, further developments have taken place between the two
institutions with the launch of a range of postgraduate masters
programmes. In association with Dublin Business School, Liverpool John
Moores University confers awards to students on a range of Undergraduate
Degree and Postgraduate Master programmes.
UNIVERSITY OF WALES
Founded
by the Royal Charter in 1893 the University of Wales is the second
largest University in the UK, after the University of London, with
around 80,000 students enrolled on courses leading to its degrees and
other qualifications. Altogether, more than a quarter of a million
students have been awarded degrees from the University of Wales since
it's establishment. The LL.B (Hons) in Irish Law at DBS is jointly
awarded by the University of Wales and the Higher Education and Training
Awards Council (HETAC). The MSc in International Business and the MSc
in E-Business Management are also awarded by the University of Wales.
PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION
All
of our degrees are recognised for exemption purposes by the Association
of Chartered Accountants (ACA), Association of Chartered Certified
Accountants (ACCA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
and the Certified Public Accountants (CPA). Our BA (Hons) Accounting
and Finance Degree programme receives the maximum number of exemptions
available from the professional accounting bodies.
The School has established an excellent reputation for success in
professional examinations, particularly the professional accounting
examinations. DBS was amongst the first tuition providers in Ireland to
be awarded the status of Platinum Approved Learning Partner, the highest
and most prestigious level of tuition provider status. from the
Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Success

There are two main intakes each year. All programmes are offered in
late September while some programmes have another intake in late January
of each year.

Careers & Appointments Service
The DBS Careers & Appointments Service will provide you with
relevant, up-to-date career guidance in order to help you navigate the
myriad of options available to you. Programmes containing a work
experience element will are facilitated by a dedicated Employer Liaison
Officer. The Employer Liaison Officer will endeavour to secure student
work placements with employers during their academic studies to enhance
student employability. This gives students an essential competitive edge
by putting their academic knowledge to the test in a real working

Student Services
Central to the college's educational ethos is the importance we place
on the holistic development of the individual students. Activities such
as sport and social events play a crucial role in this development. We
have teams for the following activities; Cricket, Football, Basketball,
Sailing, Rugby, Golf. Social events include: Freshers Week Events,
Halloween Ball, Christmas Party, and the Annual Ball. We also organise
tours to historic places of interest such as Book of Kells, National Art

Library & Information Services
The DBS Library and Information Service comprises: the Undergraduate
Library at Aungier Street, the Postgraduate Library at Dame Street and

All students at DBS have access to an extensive range of networked
computer facilities on campus, which are constantly upgraded to
incorporate the latest computing technology. We have 8 Computer labs
that have recently been upgraded with the latest PC hardware
specification and we also use Apple Mac’s for our Film and media
courses. We also provide Wireless access for students with personal
laptops.
The College’s objective is to replicate the highest standards found
in any advanced technology environment. DBS students are therefore able
to develop their computing skills throughout their college experience.
