The Irish Aid Fellowship Training Programme for Vietnam started in 2007 and aims to support study in areas of socio-economic development which are particularly relevant to Vietnam‟s development and aligned to Irish Aid objectives in Vietnam. A list of available courses is attached. Applications from Irish Aid partners, public universities and civil society organisations are particularly welcome. On average, we receive 30 applications for 2 scholarships.

Irish Aid‟s Fellowship Training Programme 2012-2013 is now calling for applications by candidates from Vietnam to study at postgraduate level (master courses) in Ireland or South East Asia.

Completed applications with supporting documents should be clearly marked “Application for Irish Aid Fellowship Programme 2012-2013”. Applications should be submitted before 31 December 2011 to:

Applications will be screened and shortlisted by Irish Aid in Hanoi. Only short listed candidates‟ applications will be referred to Ireland for a final decision. Applicants will be informed of the outcome in June-July 2012. No interview is involved. Applicants are not required to contact the university directly.

Summary of Eligibility Criteria:

Vietnamese Citizen residing in Vietnam

Currently working for an Irish Aid partner or relevant organisation

 Years of experience:

 At least 3 years of relevant full time work experience.

Academic qualification:

Official university degree „kha‟ or „gioi‟

Language proficiency:

English

IELTS: 6.5 (Academic) or TOEFL:570 (still valid upon the application‟s submission). Institutional TOEFL will not be accepted.

Identified University/College:

 Relevant college course in a Higher Education Institute in Ireland or within the region from list.

 

Commitment:

 

- Be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to the development of their home country.

- Be able to take up the fellowship in the academic year for which it is offered.

- Provide a letter from employer granting study leave and guaranteeing that they will be able to return to an equivalent position in the organization at the end of the fellowship period.
