The Ireland-Vietnam Blood-Borne Virus Initiative (IVVI)

The laboratory is equipped with specialised equipment for the testing of all blood borne viral infections. On 17 March 2010, the new laboratory facility was officially opened by Minister of State Conor Lenihan, T.D and Minister for Health Dr Nguyen Quoc Trieu.

It is proposed that this internationally recognised centre of excellence in epidemiology and diagnostic virology will also serve as a training centre for doctors and scientists.  WHO is engaged in discussions related to IVVI as a regional training centre.
